Q: My husband and I are tight financially now with a baby and I've never budgeted. How do you budget?
A: Typically you can do it on an Excel spreadsheet...but you could do it on a scrap piece of paper if you really wanted to. The best way is to add up your average cost of your amenities each month (rent/house payment, water, electric, etc.) Once you do that, subtract the total cost away from how much combined income you have coming in each month. Whatever you have leftover you budget into what other needs you have each month like grocery shopping, gas, entertainment, grooming (haircuts, etc), and clothing.
